Have you ever looked at a room and said: “It looks great and everything but there is something off about it”? Well, this happens because people commit some serious mistakes when remodeling or decorating a room and these mistakes ruin its ambiance and its overall look. Here are the some of the mistakes people commit and why you should avoid them.
1- Do not hoard things. Sometimes you find yourself in a room with a bookcase (or even more) stacked with books from top to bottom, and say, “how did I end up in the library?” or find shelves in someone’s living room with a large assortment of glass decorations. All of this called hording. It draws attention and not in a good way. Less is more in decoration.
2- Avoid wrong lighting. Sometimes you go to a friend and at first, his living room looks classy and gorgeous but after thirty minutes, you feel like you cannot wait to get out of this room. The reason for that (besides boring conversations) is that wrong lighting affects people’s mood. Also, in a room that is not lit properly you will find yourself increasingly bothered by the lighting to do anything properly.
3- Matching away is another serious mistake. By this I mean choosing – for example – a simple floral print for your wall paper, then choose a rug with a closely similar print, then furniture with more of the same print. Do not go matching colors and prints endlessly (so much that if you dress in something with the same colors or print, nobody will notice you are there). One of the things that makes people people is that they adore different things. Therefore, use different colors and do not overuse elements and themes.
It is not enough to choose expensive furniture and decorations to have a gorgeous decor. You also need to avoid these little mistakes that brings everything down.
